Starting in 1992
From Henry E. Liebling, co-founder, MoreVirtual.com: I began using this type of software on dial-up lines with a modem. It was DOS-based (pre-Windows) and it was called "Audio-Graphic" (Audio for voice and Graphic for the visual). The technology has advanced and today we know it as Web Conferencing. Today, I provide web conferencing conslting, training, and coaching.
Amazingly, this Audio-Graphic software was pretty darn fast, even using the modem. Slides and content had little delay.
Thank you University of Wisconsin's Extension Program. I was able to attend virtual distance learning classes. I Iearned their "model" of how they guided people to make a successful transition from traditional "face-to-face" teaching, to being an effective synchronous virtual instructor. This was, and is, a big deal to me.
Web Conferencing and Internet Collaboration Tools
As of this writing, I've now used 20 different "Web Conferencing" programs.
In addition, I have strong experience with "asynchronous platforms" for virtual teams and for learning, a Learning Content Management System (LCMS), and an Internet Decision Support Tool for large groups. We have a great interest in "blended learning" and "blended communications."
How do you work?
Our premise is that not all virtual meetings are the same. We teach our clients how to be effective, efficient, and successful for a wide variety of virtual meetings. Examples - No Travel:
(1) Using web conferencing to help you get clarity on a customer's requirements for your service, product, or solution is different than using web conferencing for your virtual team's staff meeting.
(2) Using web conferencing to co-create a report with people in other locations is different than using web conferencing to give a status report to the project's sponsor and stakeholders..
(3) Using web conferencing to provide virtual coaching and virtual meeting facilitation to a team that is hundreds of miles away from you is different than using web conferencing for a webinar with light Q&A.
(4) Using web conferencing to deliver a fee-for-service (revenue) virtual program is different than using web conferencing for virtual mentoring.
(5) Using web conferencing to deliver virtual learning (virtual classroom) is different than using web conferencing for your organizational development consulting.
